This past Saturday, May 14th, we held our first ever “Drift 101″ Drift Clinic at NHMS.  The weather started out nice and sunny and our group of 17 eager learners arrived and were ready to go.  The morning session consisted of 3 small groups working with a set of instructors on the very basics; initiation, throttle control, steering.  All the students advanced quickly, with many starting out unable to perform a single donut, graduating all the way to a small teardrop style course.

After lunch, we set up a large course consisting of 3 large sweepers with a few optional clipping points allowing the students to practice linking and transitioning around the course.  By now the weather had turned dreary, but that didn’t stop everyone from getting out there and killing it.  With so much seat time, many of the students’ day ended early, due to lack of tires, but for those who came prepared, they were able to get around 4 straight hours of practice time, which they all put to good use.

Showing Drift Spot some love

It was a great day for everyone.  The progress all the students showed was amazing and I can’t thank those who volunteered to teach enough.  Without their help, this event would not have been as successful as it was.
